Sexual assault investigation by the Sedalia Police Department

On Sunday morning, Sedalia police responded to a residence in the 900 block of Olsen Road in reference to a sexual assault. Upon arrival, the victim told officers on Sunday, May 26, a male subject known to her entered her apartment and sexually assaulted her. The suspect is at large and is being sought on charges of 1st degree burglary and deviate sexual assault.

Female suspect arrested at Walmart for trespassing and property damage

At 4:00 Sunday afternoon Sedalia police were sent to the Walmart Store in regard to a trespassing suspect. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the suspect, identified as 55-year-old Helen Brockman of Green Ridge. Brockman reportedly had two shopping carts full of perishable items valued at $198.13, that she had been pushing around the store since 11:00 that morning. The complainant said the items would have to be thrown out. Brockman was arrested, taken to the Pettis County Jail and placed on 24-hour hold pending formal charges.

Family Dollar reports a shoplifter Sunday morning

Around 11:00 Sunday morning, Sedalia police responded to the Family Dollar at 612 South Hancock on a reported shoplifter. The complainant told officers she saw the 35 to 40-year-old female suspect place makeup items in her purse and walk out without paying for them. The police report states that the complainant was able to provide a license plate number of the vehicle the suspect left in. The suspect was being sought at news time.

Thieves target a vacant house on the west side and steal several items

On Saturday, Sedalia police were sent to a residence in the 1000 block of West 3rd on a burglary report. Upon arrival, officers met with the owner of the vacant house who had come to check on her property. The victim told officers that sometime since the Jan. 19, someone entered the house and took a Kenmore stainless steel gas stove valued at $800, a Top Mount stainless steel microwave oven valued at $350 and a spool of Romax wiring. The thieves also took a set of jack stands and a pair of wheel stands from the garage. There were no suspects at news time.

Electronic items reported stolen from an East 7th residence Saturday

Just after 8:00 Saturday morning, a female victim at a residence in the 400 block of East 7th filed a burglary complaint with the Sedalia police department. According to the victim,  someone forced entry to the residence sometime overnight and stole several electronic. There was no information on a possible suspect in the police report.

Laptop computer stolen from a man’s motel room Sunday morning

At 9:40 Sunday morning, a male victim at the Sunset Motel located at 3615 South Limit reported his motel room was entered while he was out of it for about 20 minutes that morning. Thieves took his new laptop computer valued at $1200. The victim said when he returned to his room, he realized he had left his key in the outside lock when he left the room. There was no suspect at at the time of the police report.

License plate stolen from a Ford F150 at the Highs School

Around 9:30 Saturday night, a female victim reported the license plate of her Ford F150 was stolen from her vehicle while it was parked at Smith-Cotton High School between the hours of 6: 45 and 9:30 that night. The number on the Missouri plate is 1HJ-099. There were no suspects at news time.
