SPD crime reports 5-8-17

Sedalia Police arrested Christopher M. Evans, 18, St. Joseph, after a traffic stop at Broadway & Curry at 1:09 a.m. Saturday. He was a passenger in the vehicle and was wanted on two Pettis County warrants. Evans was transported to the Pettis County Jail.


 

Woods Supermarket, 1400 S. Limit, reported that someone provided a forged check and obtained $318.28 from the business at 6:36 p.m. Saturday. The suspect has not yet been located, but charges of two counts of forgery and one count of stealing are being sought.


 

On Saturday morning, Lowe's, 3811 W. Broadway, reported that two males entered the store, took merchandise from inside the store and proceeded to the service desk to “return” the items. No arrests were made.


 

Kyle Jacob Burnett, 24, Sedalia, was arrested on a Municipal warrant Sunday afternoon in the 300 block of Howard. Burnett was transported to the Pettis County Jail. His bond was $50.


 

On Sunday afternoon, Michael Fisher reported the theft of a 16-foot box trailer from his in front of his house in the 3000 block of Clarendon Road.


 

On Sunday afternoon, Brenden J. Ward reported the theft of his black-and-yellow Craftsman garden tractor riding lawn mower, valued at $1,000, from the 2200 block of S. Engineer. There are no suspects.


 

On Sunday morning, Theodore E. Weller reported the theft of his gold 2005 Chevy Mailbu from his residence. According to the report, the vehicle was left unlocked with keys inside.


 

Richard D. Taber, 34, Sedalia, was arrested at Broadway and Mildred after a traffic stop afternoon Friday. He was charged with Driving While Revoked, No Proof of Insurance and Failure to Register with the DOR. According to the report, the tag on the Ford Taurus was dangling by one screw and didn't match the vehicle to which it was attached. Taber did not have a driver's license due to owing back payments for child support, the report said.


 

On Saturday morning, Jacob A. Bailey reported the theft of his vehicle from his front yard overnight in the 1600 block of E. 12th.


 

On Friday at 11:39 p.m. Darryl Allen Frazier, 50, was arrested at Washington and Johnson on a Pettis County warrant for 3rd degree assault. Frazier was transported to the Pettis County Jail on a $3,500 bond, cash or surety. His court date is to be announced.


 

On Sunday afternoon, Linda Heatherman reported the theft of yard items in the 200 block of E. Morgan. Taken were a five-foot wishing well and a wooden planter. According to the report, the wishing well was later located in another backyard and returned. The planter is still missing.


 

On Saturday evening, Kendra Ward reported that a known subject entered her residence through an open door and then refused to leave after being asked to do so several times. The suspect finally left after police were called. No arrests were made. A charge of 1st degree trespassing is being submitted.


 

On Saturday, Sandra Kay Williams reported that someone cut two window screens on her garage in the 1200 block of Maple Lane. Entry was not made, however. There was no value given for the screens.


 

Casey's, General Store, 3050 S. Limit, reported a $17 gas drive-off just after 8 p.m. Sunday night. The suspect's license plate info was forwarded to Sedalia Police.


 

On Sunday evening, a citizen turned in a motorcycle helmet and gloves to Sedalia Police. The items were believed to be related to a subject who ran from police the previous day, according to the report. The items were placed into evidence.


 

Seth Kabler reported the theft of his Xbox from his house in the 1500 block of E. 4th on Friday morning. A possible suspect has been identified.


 

Larry J. Allen reported that while driving on McAnally Court around 10:30 p.m. Friday night, someone ran up to his car and punched out the driver's window. There are no suspects in the case.


 

At 1:29 a.m. Saturday at Main & Dundee, Daniel Reese Leisen, 32, Hughesville, was arrested for DWI and Failure to Register with the DOR after Sedalia Police made a traffic stop on a truck that was observed drifting towards the side of the road, then the driver jerked the wheel back towards the center of the road. Leisen appeared to be intoxicated, according to the officer. Leisen was taken to the Sedalia Police Department, then to the Pettis County Jail.


 

Just after 9 p.m. Saturday at Broadway & Grand, Mikayla N. Bridgewater, 19, KCMO, was arrested for Driving While Suspended after a traffic stop for a headlight out. She was taken to the Pettis County Jail, where she was booked and released.


 

Elda Dotson, a resident of Fair View Nursing Home, 1714 W, 16th, reported the theft of money from her purse on Friday afternoon.


 

On Friday, Linda Elgin reported that someone forced entry into her detached garage in the 600 block of W. and stole multiple items, including an air compressor, a ladder and several household goods. The items were valued at $370.


 

On Saturday afternoon Matthew Briscoe reported the theft of his cell phone (iPhone 5s) by a juvenile who borrowed it for two days and never returned it in the 200 block of Scott Joplin Court.


 

Juan C. Lerma, 27, Sedalia, was arrested Saturday night after Sedalia Police made contact with him while Lerma was sitting in a vehicle at Crown Hill Cemetery. Lerma was taken to the Pettis County Jail on a $50 bond with a June 21 court date.
