Sedalia Police reports for 9-1-19

Sedalia Police made an appearance at 416 S. Grand on Friday night at 10:29 p.m. to locate someone implicated in a burglary. Contact was made with subjects at the residence, and the odor of marijuana could be detected. A search revealed marijuana, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia inside. Two males were arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail on a 24-hour hold, including 47-year-old Michael J. Carter of the residence, and 69-year-old Charles Nathan Cole of Florence. They were both charged with possession of marijuana, meth and drug paraphernalia.

A Sedalia Police officer observed a white Chevy Impala maneuver through dropped and flashing railroad crossing signs at Ohio and Pacific just after 5 p.m. Friday afternoon. The vehicle was then stopped and the driver questioned. A computer check revealed that the driver, 35-year-old Waylon M. Burns of Sedalia, was wanted on an outstanding felony warrant. Burns was taken into custody and transported to the Pettis County Jail on a $3,500 cash or surety bond. He was issued a summons for the traffic infraction.


 

Sedalia Police investigated a chain reaction accident that occurred at Broadway and Osage at 3:55 p.m. Friday afternoon. According to a report, two eastbound vehicles stopped for the traffic light were hit by a third vehicle, which then left the scene without providing any information. The suspect has not yet been identified.


 

Sedalia Police arrested 40-year-old Misty Dawn French at 12:28 a.m. Friday at North Osage and Cooper. She was wanted on a Pettis County warrant. French was taken into custody and transported to the Pettis County Jail on a $7,500 cash or surety bond.


 

Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop on a black Chevy pickup at 1:53 a.m. Friday at 16th and Lafayette. A computer check revealed that 31-year-old Michael Dale Iman was wanted on a two warrants with bond totaling $500. He was taken to the Pettis County Jail.


 

Sedalia Police responded to a report of people breaking into a board-up residence at 620 W. 4th on Aug. 29. Suspects left prior to officers' arrival, however, one suspect was located at 20th and Missouri and found to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. 25-year-old Mark A. Brookfelt was taken into custody and transported to the Pettis County Jail.


 

Sedalia Police took a theft report in the 3300 block of South Stewart at 3:55 a.m. Friday. An HP laptop, valued at $1,000, was stolen from a car parked in the area.


 

On Aug. 28, a man reported that his car was damaged by a known suspect, while his car was parked in a city lot at 513 S. Kentucky. Total amount of damage was estimated at $1,000. The suspect had not yet been contacted at the time of the report.


 

On Aug. 26, a Sedalia man reported being assaulted in the 1600 block of South Carr in the early morning hours. The victim had minor injuries, according to a report. The suspect, who is known to the victim, had not yet been located at the time of the report. Charges of 1st degree burglary and 3rd degree assault are being sought.
