During Monday night’s Sedalia School District 200 Board of Education meeting, students who attended Missouri Girls State and Missouri Boys State were recognized.

The weeklong summer programs, held at the University of Central Missouri and sponsored by the American Legion, provide leadership opportunities for incoming senior students who are selected through an application process.

Smith-Cotton High School was represented by, from left, Aly Shaw, Jerilyn Allen, Kurstin Wilkerson, Logan Tatum, Emily Taylor, Chaz Satnan and Alberto Madrid. Absent from Monday’s recognition were Margarita Antonova, Andriy Usyk, Joshua Lewis and Alex Stevenson.
