The Sedalia STING Unit arrested three suspects on various charges Tuesday night (April 8) after a short car chase and foot pursuit.

At 9:20 Tuesday night, the Sedalia STING Unit saw a vehicle with no front license plate in the area of West 16th and South Osage. The vehicle began to drive carelessly and attempted to avoid being pulled over. Sedalia Police tried to stop the vehicle, and it continued to elude detectives, driving in a reckless manner.

When the vehicle came to a stop in the area of West 16th Street and South Kentucky Avenue, one of the passengers jumped out of the car and fled on foot. Sedalia Police apprehended the suspect, who identified himself as 33-year-old Benjamin Green, and found methamphetamine on him. Officers found that a 5-year-old boy was in the vehicle without child restraints.

The driver, 17-year-old Joshua Fuller, was charged with a first degree endangering the welfare of a child. Another passenger gave Sedalia Police a false identity and was later identified as 33-year-old Mary Roop.

UPDATE: After further investigation at the Pettis County Jail, police found that Benjamin J. Green is actually Brett J. Fuller, 33 years old. Fuller provided a false identity at the time of his arrest in an attempt to avoid being apprehended for active warrants out of Johnson County, Kan. for possession of a controlled substance and assault on a law enforcement officer. The active warrants provided a bond amount of $45,000 cash or surety.

Fuller faces charges of possession of methamphetamine, resisting arrest for a felony and identity theft for providing a false name at the time of his arrest; Fuller faces charges of first Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child; and Mary Roop faces charges of identity theft, first degree endangering the welfare of a child and Pettis County warrant for trespassing, which provided a bond amount of $1,500 cash or surety.
