Police reports for June 13, 2016

On June 11, Sedalia Police arrested Brenden Michael Price, 18, Sedalia, on eight counts after officers observed him hit a pedestrian near Broadway and Montgomery and continue driving. He was stopped and charged with DWI, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, purchase of alcohol by a minor, possession of alcohol under the age of 21, and second degree assault. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail on a 24-hour hold, pending state charges.

Brandon Lee Martin, 26, Sedalia, was arrested on June 12 for 1st degree property damage in the 800 block of E. 15th after he was accused of throwing bricks at the victim's vehicle, causing damage to the trunk. The victim had stopped to pick up a friend at the address.

On June 11, Sedalia Police arrested Daniel Raymond Strunk, 53, Sedalia, after a traffic stop at Broadway and Montgomery. He was the passenger in the vehicle. He had an outstanding Pettis County warrant and was transported to the Pettis County with a $3,500 bond, cash or surety.

On June 4, Sedalia Police recovered a handgun reported stolen during a robbery that occurred in Sedalia May 20. The suspect, Carl Dean Cross, 35, of Sedalia, was a felon and placed under arrest for unlawful use of a weapon and receiving stolen property. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail pending state charges.

Christian C. Aguilar, 20, Sedalia, was arrested June 11 for Domestic Assault after police did a welfare check on a fourth party report. The victim had two black eyes, multiple bruises on her arms and a bite mark. The suspect was identified as her boyfriend, and the incident happened about a week ago, the report said. He was later arrested after he returned home.

Julie E. Merrell, 49, Sedalia, was arrested for 3rd degree Domestic Assault June 10 after a moth-daughter spat. She was transported to the Pettis County Jail om a 24-hour hold.

Richard H. Stoltman, 30, Sedalia, was arrested for Failure to Appear (misdemeanor) after a traffic stop at 12th and Winchester on a Holt County warrant on a child restraint ticket. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail with a court date of July 12 in Holt County.

Sedalia Police reponded to a hit-and-run accident just after 12 a.m. this morning in the 1200 block of E. Fifth. The suspect allegedly struck a parked car, pulled forward 40 feet, backed up and struck the car again before leaving the scene. No one has been identified in the case at the time of the report.

Kyle Nicholas Richards, 31, Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Suspended or Revoked after he was found sleeping in his car at Break Time, 318 W. Broadway. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail.

On Saturday, June 11, someone reported that the top of their car was dented by someone sitting on it in the 400 block of W. Seventh.

Elizabeth Ann Bryant, 19, Mora, was arrested Saturday for traveling 35 mph in a 20 mph zone near New York and 16th. She was wanted on a Cole County warrant for speeding. She was transported to the Pettis County Jail with a $200 cash-only bond.

Six windows and one front door was reported damaged on Friday afternoon at an apartment complex in the 300 block of E. Seventh. There is a witness to the incident and a suspect has been identified. Charges are being submitted, the report said.

Police took a theft report involving tools taken from the bed of a pickup truck in the 300 block of E. Boonville sometime between June 5 and 10.

Police arrested Jordan Quantell Webb, 23, Joplin, for assault after officers responded to a disturbance on Buckner Court involving two people with a child in common. While officers were present, Webb allegedly threatened to assault the female. He was arrested for domestic assault and transported to the Pettis County Jail, booked and released, and warned not to return to the residence. He Webb has a court date of July 13.

Police took a report of property damage in the 700 block of Summit on Saturday morning. The victim's Chevy Blazer had a broken rear window, causing $300 of damage.

Police took a drone into found property after someone called to say they found it in their neighbor's yard in the 1300 block of W. Fifth. The drone was a “Phantom Standard” model.

Brittany A. Reed, 18, Sedalia, was arrested for 3rd Degree Assault and Failure to Appear on Sunday after Sedalia Police responded to a disturbance near Broadway and Montgomery. Reed had a Higginsville warrant. She was booked and released with a court date of August 11.

Sedalia Police took a burglary report in the 400 block of N. Mill Saturday night. Suspect(s) entered the residence through a window and stole a laptop and wi-fi router, valued at $600. A possible suspect was identified, but not located at the time of the report.

Police responded to five car crashes on Friday and one on Saturday. The most dramatic one was a rollover that occurred Friday at 14th and Sneed at 5:51 p.m. Involving Melanie Schlup of Sedalia and David Lee Jones of Warsaw. Both drivers refused medical treatment at the scene.

Police took a hit-and-run report involving a black truck that left the scene of an accident at 14th and Grand Sunday evening. The victim attempted to catch up with the suspect, but the damage to his car was too great, the report indicated.

Judith L. Denny, 49, Sedalia, was arrested for 3rd degree assault on May 28.

David H. Wirtz, 48, Sedalia, was arrested for Failure to Appear on a Municipal warrant Sunday morning in the 700 block of E. Broadway.
