The annual State Fair Community College “Student Art Show”, a tradition dating back to the late 1960s, is being held this year from April 11 to May 12 in the Daum Museum of Contemporary Art on the Sedalia campus.

The show is open to all students who have taken studio art classes at SFCC.

Participating student-artists collaborated with art faculty to select work that best represented them.

The show features 83 artworks by 42 artists in a wide range of media, from paintings, drawings, photography, 3D printing, and ceramics. Awards including President’s Awards, Excellence in Design, and Excellence in Studio along with cash prizes were presented at the student show opening on April 11 by a panel of art faculty that consisted of Dr. Meghan McClellan and Donnie Luper.

This year’s 2024 Student Exhibition Awards recipients were as follows:

Excellence in Design ($150 cash award): Will Vasquez of Sedalia

Excellence in Studio ($150 cash award): Taylor Barnes of California

President’s Awards: Sue Bolster of Knob Noster, for Large Platter, 2024; ceramic (purchase prize); Elise Murguia of Osceola, for One, 2024; earthenware (purchase prize).
