Shirley R. Walker, 87, of Sedalia, passed into the hands of our Lord on Friday, June 5, 2015, at the Lutheran Good Shepherd Home, a caring and loving community in Concordia, MO.

She was born July 27, 1927, on a farm near Russellville, MO, to John C.A. and Clara C. (Beutler) Yost and was the youngest of four daughters. She moved with her family to Marshall, MO, in 1941, graduating from Marshall High School in 1945. She worked for Southwestern Bell until her marriage.

Shirley married Harold R. Walker (Bob) on August 5, 1956, in Marshall. The couple moved to Albany, Georgia, where Bob was stationed with the United States Air Force. From there they moved several more times during Bob's military career before settling in Knob Noster, MO, upon his retirement. Shirley worked for a few years as a cook at the Knob Noster High School until she too retired.

Left to honor Shirley and remember her love are her husband, Bob, of Concordia, MO; her two children, Bob (Lily) Walker and Karen (Michael) Morris; two grandchildren, Julia (Matt) Cochran and Carl Walker; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; and three sisters, Carmen Rose, Mary Jane and Harriet LaRue.

A note from her children: We will have a lifetime of gratitude to her for being a great mom. She was a stay-at-home mom until her youngest was a senior in high school. She provided us a loving, encouraging environment, made us three meals a day plus a snack after school, read to us, tucked us in, and helped us with our homework. She never missed a game, and even though she would always say, "this won't be a very big Christmas," we always got everything on our Christmas list. We will be forever grateful. We love you mom.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 12, at Heckart Funeral Home in Sedalia, with Chaplain Ray Haught officiating.
Casket bearers will be Michael Morris, Carl Walker, Alan Luebbert, John Bertschy, Paul Bertschy and David Sparks.
Burial will follow in Knob Noster Cemetery.

The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.

The Walker family would like to extend our gratitude to all the staff at the Lutheran Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Concordia and to Crossroads Hospice for their attentiveness and loving care.

Memorials may be made in Shirley's name to Lutheran Good Shepherd Nursing Home or the Alzheimer's Association of Mid-Missouri.
