Skyline Elementary School had a grade-level competition last week but the real winners were hungry families in West Central Missouri.

Students in kindergarten through fourth grade took part in a food drive benefitting the Food Bank of Central Missouri. In total, the students brought in 1,912 food items ranging from canned goods and dry pasta to breakfast cereal.

Kindergarten won the contest, donating 649 items. For their accomplishment, the students will enjoy movie time with Principal Kelly McFatrich.

The individual class donating the most items was to win a donut party, but since the classes of Christina Emery (225) and Tammy Thomas (224) were separated by just one item, both will receive the prize.
