On Thursday at approximately 12:08 p.m., Pettis County Joint Communications received a call that there was an unresponsive man lying down in the alley of the 2000 block of East 6th Street.

UPDATE: Upon speaking with additional witnesses, collecting further evidence, and an autopsy detectives have found the victim, David Williams, 54, of the 2000 block of East 6th passed away due to a health-related issue. Due to the nature and circumstances, detectives worked to ensure no foul play was involved in the death. Thank you to all the community members and neighbors for their help with providing information during the investigation.

On 06/29/23 at approximately 1208 hrs. Pettis County Joint Communications received a call that there was an unresponsive man lying down in the alley of the 2000 block of East 6th St. Officers responded to the scene and found the man was deceased. The Sedalia Police Department Criminal Investigation Unit and Crime Resolution Unit also responded to investigate the death. Detectives are following up on leads and working with the Pettis County Coroner to determine the circumstances of the incident. An autopsy has been planned to assist in the investigation. The name of the victim is being withheld until the family can be notified.
