The Salvation Army is looking forward to another busy Christmas Season. I know, I know, it's not even Halloween, but they've gotta get planning now! The bell ringers will be out before you know it - and they'll be working to help people in need. Now, we just need to know who needs that help.
Sedalia's first Downtown Sedalia New Year's Parade will be held Wednesday, Jan. 1 at 3:00 p.m., with lineup starting at 2:00 p.m. There is no entrance fee to be in the parade, and the lineup order will be first come first served. Staging will take place at Sixth Street and Ohio, then travel down Ohio to Main Street then turn on to Osage before disbanding.
Now that your Christmas is over, you've got a little something to deal with, don't you: that tree! The Missouri Department of Conservation is working with the Central Missouri Electric Cooperative and the City of Sedalia to help you recycle your Christmas tree.
I don't know about you guys, but for me, Christmas means family and parties. Well, not all ragers, don't get me wrong. But getting together with some folks, eatin' some food, and tellin' tales of the old days.
Christmas is here! Well, technically we have about a day and a half to spare. I really don't feel like it's that time of year. I'm not blaming anyone in particular, but I just don't have the Christmas spirit.
One of my favorite things about the holidays is going to see the Christmas lights that people display, whether it be the Holiday Express or going door to door. I love seeing how people are so creative. One display that I have seen year after year as it is in my old stomping grounds outside of Knob Noster in Country Acres. This home lighting display is put on by David and Donna Grygierczyk. You can see their lighting display as you go north on FF and make a left just before the train tracks at 1290 NE 140. You will be amazed by the hard work they have done to do this year after year.
One thing that people really talk a lot about this time of year is "the reason for the season." So that means that people really want to reconnect with their spiritual roots around the holidays. Here's a look at some of the special services coming up at our local churches.
