Clinton Police Investigate Traffic Accident Involving a Pedestrian

At 9:39 p.m. on the evening of Saturday, Nov. 3, Clinton Police Officers were dispatched to the east side of the Clinton Square in regard to a traffic accident that involved a pedestrian.  Upon arrival, police found the victim, 20-year-old Tyler Lane Frerking of Smithville, Missouri lying on the pavement.

On The Road With Doug: Wiener Dog Races in Clinton

It's time for another On the Road With Doug. When my wife, Diana, and I first started dating, she made it perfectly clear when I dated her, got engaged to her and married her that there would always be a dachshund in the house. Ever since we've had our home, we have had one, so I'm good there. One year I discovered an event at the Woodlands called the Wiener Dog Races. Unfortunately, the Woodlands closed, but Olde Glory Days in Clinton picked up the event and has been running it for eight years straight. This year's event was sponsored by American Family Insurance. Diana and I ventured to Clinton on Saturday afternoon (June 29) and settled in for the races. We were amazed that the stands were packed on the main side and there appeared to be about 20-30 dogs entered into the event.

Olde Glory Days Coming to Clinton This Week, Lee Greenwood to Perform on June 28

The Olde Glory Days are back in Clinton this week, a week ahead of the 4th of July schedule in order to book Lee Greenwood, the country music artist known for "God Bless the U.S.A."  They’ve got plenty of entertainment June 27-30. This year's theme is "Proud To Be An American." There will be a carnival each day of the event around the square in Clinton.

Fliers from Hate Group Distributed Throughout Clinton

The Clinton Police Department has had several complaints about fliers that are being distributed by unknown suspects in the Clinton area.  The fliers appear to have been printed from a website of a known hate group.

Clinton Police Investigating Death of 12-Year-Old Girl

On Saturday morning (May 4) at 9:41 a.m., Clinton Police Officers were dispatched to 604 E. Lincoln St. in reference to a subject that was not breathing. Upon arrival, officers discovered 12-year-old Destiny Spitler of the home, who was not breathing and appeared to have no pulse. Officers performed CPR on the scene until an ambulance transported her to the Golden Valley Memorial Hospital Emergency Room where she was pronounced dead by Henry County Coroner Dain Sisk.
