$68,000 in Unclaimed Property Found at 2012 Missouri State Fair

According to Missouri State Treasurer Clint Zweifel, 523 fair attendees found $68,000 in unclaimed property at the 2012 Missouri State Fair. One fair attendee was lucky enough to find $4,600 in unclaimed property. Treasurer Zweifel’s staff conducted over 1500 searches and talked to thousands of fairgoers about finding valuable unclaimed property.

Mosque Destroyed by Fire in Joplin, Missouri; Arson Suspected

A fire at the mosque of the Islamic Society of Joplin, Missouri destroyed the house of worship on Monday, August 6.  Federal agents are investigating the blaze, which appears to have been started intentionally.

Ionia Woman Wins $20,000 from Missouri Lottery Scratchers Ticket

The Missouri Lottery reports that a woman from Ionia has won a major lotto prize.  Geraldine Carrico of Ionia followed her hunch about a Missouri Lottery "Cash Ka-Pow" Scratchers ticket and ended up winning a $20,000 top prize.  Carrico, 65, bought the winning ticket at Rush Hour 9, 1320 South Limit in Sedalia on June 15.

Vacationing Close to Home

There are a lot of events going on this weekend. This weekend the Mid Mo Outlaws travel to Council Bluffs, Iowa to take on the newly renamed Council Bluffs in what is one of the great rivalries of the American Professional Football League. So Denny and I are hitting the road with them, and we're looking forward to it. While we realize there is a football game, I highly recommend a trip to this area if you get the chance.
