Smith-Cotton Lady Tiger McDonald’s Classic All Tournament Team Announced

Over the weekend, the 2013 S-C Lady Tiger McDonald's Classic wrapped up with a thrilling championship game. Nixa was crowned the champion of the tournament over Hickman in one of the best match-ups you will get to see before the state tournament.  The Smith-Cotton girls won the consolation game and looks to build off that win as they prep for conference play.

Sedalia #200 School Board Hires Steve Triplett as Assistant Superintendent

The Board of Education of the Sedalia #200 School District hired Mr. Steve Triplett as Assistant Superintendent of Schools in charge of Buildings and Grounds / Student Support Services during a closed session on Monday, Jan. 14.  He will fill the position on July 1, 2013, when Bradley Pollitt vacates the position and becomes the Superintendent of Schools.

Smith-Cotton McDonald’s All Tournament Team Announced

Even after the opening night power outage hiccup, the Smith-Cotton McDonald's Classic was once again a great tournament.  We had the opportunity to cover the Smith-Cotton games on 92.3 BOB FM.  This year featured some of the best talent you will see in any local tournament. I personally want to say thank you to all the young men, coaches, and high school's who competed in the tournament and make it so exciting to watch. The 2013 S-C McDonald's Classic All Tournament Team has just been announced. Congratulations to all of these young athletes and good luck the rest of the year!

Smith-Cotton Tigers Prepare for Round Two of McDonald’s Boys Basketball Classic

The 2013 McDonald's Boys Classic brings on second round action today.  They hope to have all the games back at Smith-Cotton High School gym after losing power for the final two games in the first round yesterday (Jan. 10), utilizing the Smith-Cotton Jr. High gym to finish the first round.

Smith-Cotton High School Prepares to Host McDonald’s Boys and Girls Classic

The Smith-Cotton Tigers will be hosting the 2013 McDonald's Boys & Girls Basketball Tournament at Smith-Cotton High School.  The McDonald's Boys Classic will be held on Jan. 10-12 and the McDonald's Girls Classic will be held on Jan. 17-19.

Read the Parent Letter Sent by Sedalia School District #200 Regarding Reported Threats of Violence

School officials have issued to the parents of students a letter to regarding the recent reports of threats of violence at Smith-Cotton High School.  The letter states that the high school "received information regarding a possible act of school violence that was to be perpetrated on school grounds," and that the case has been turned over to the Pettis County Juvenile Office for further action.

Brad Pollitt, Assistant Superintendent of the Sedalia School District, addressed the recent rumors of kids possibly committing violent acts at Smith-Cotton High School in an interview this morning.  After a joint investigation with school officials, the student resource officer and the Pettis County Juvenile Office, no credible threats of violence were found.  The rumored acts were said to be surrounding what ancient Mayans claimed to be the end of the world.
