LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo. (AP) — Authorities in the Kansas City region are looking for a man who is stealing donation jars intended for the Children's Miracle Network.
A woman in Granite City, Illinois walked into a jewelry store last month and distracted employees, so her children – ages 6 and 8 – could go behind the counters and help themselves to the merchandise. The kids proved to be very efficient, netting $100,000 worth of goods.
It took some serious slithering, but Anthony Johnson was able to steal as much as $70,000 a week from unsuspecting movie-theater patrons.
According to an accomplice who turned on him, Johnson would purchase a ticket for a movie that women were likely to see. Then he and a female partner would crawl around on the floor of the dark theater, plundering the purses sitting at the ladies' feet.
