Only a day after Seth MacFarlane said, in no uncertain terms, that he would not be returning to the Oscars after his much-criticized stint as host, we're slapped with the news that the ideal choice to replace him, Tina Fey, won't be taking the stage either.

As you're no doubt aware, Fey and her partner in crime Amy Poehler killed it at January's Golden Globes ceremony, prompting many to wonder if they'll be asked to host the next edition of the Oscars. (Heck, even William Shatner brought it up during his take-down of MacFarlane on Sunday night.) But when asked by The Huffington Post about the possibility, Fey quickly shot it down.

...I just feel like that gig is so hard. Especially for, like, a woman -- the amount of months that would be spent trying on dresses alone ... no way.

Fey went on to say "I wish I could tell you there was" when asked if there was even a "one in a million chance" that she'd host, which we suppose leaves the possibility completely off the table.

A true shame, as Fey's smart-aleck humor combined with her (and Poehler's) pointed - but friendly - jabs at their fellow celebrities stands in stark contrast to MacFarlane's smirking, somewhat immature (and some would certainly say sexist) brand of comedy.

What do you think? Do you hope Fey reconsiders her decision not to host the Oscars next year? If not, who would you like to see play host?
