On October 19, 2023, at approximately 1453 hours, Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 1800 block of S. Limit Ave. in reference to a male subject who was walking out into traffic. Callers were worried a passing vehicle would strike the subject, causing serious injury. Upon arrival, Officers attempted to make contact with the suspect. They determined that he may be in crisis or under the influence of an illegal substance. However, before officers could help the subject he attempted to run out into traffic.

To prevent the subject from being hit by passing vehicles on the busy highway, Officers attempted to take the subject to the ground. The subject began to resist the Officers, and the suspect removed a firearm from his waistband. Officers attempted to take control of the weapon. After a few moments, the firearm was thrown into the street. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident. He was transported to Bothwell Regional Health Center for a fit for confinement. He was later transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold, pending state charges.

The suspect was identified as Linden P. Bennett, 31 years old. Charges submitted to the Pettis County Prosecutors Office are:

  • Peace Disturbance
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Unlawful for Certain Persons to Possess a Firearm
