On Sunday morning, April 21, Sedalia Police responded to Family Farm & Home Center, 1400 South Limit, for a report of trespassing.

The officer was familiar with the subject and knew that she had previously been trespassed from the business. The officer located the suspect on the north side of Woods Supermarket and explained to her that she was under arrest.

The suspect, 50-year-old Renee M. Fortune of Sedalia, refused orders and took off in her vehicle. The officer followed her to her house on Anderson Avenue, where he again tried to place her under arrest.

Fortune began fighting with the officer as well as other officers who arrived on scene. Fortune at one point began reaching for her waistband, where a gun was later recovered.
