The City of Kansas City, Mo., Aviation Department is teaming up with the Transportation Security Administration and IdentGo so air travelers may enroll in the TSA Pre✓™ program Monday, March 9th through Friday, March 13th at Kansas City International Airport.

The TSA Pre✓™ program allows participating flyers to experience a more efficient airport screening process by leaving on their shoes, light jackets and belts and leaving laptops and compliant liquids in carry-on bags at special airport screening lanes. Over 117 airports have dedicated TSA Pre✓™ lanes and 11 airlines participate in the program including Alaska, American, Delta, Hawaiian, JetBlue, Southwest, United, US Airways and Virgin America. At KCI, the program has been rolled out at Delta and Southwest.

To participate in this event, travelers may pre-enroll and schedule their appointment online. The process is very quick as travelers just enter basic information and make sure to select “Kansas City, MO” as the location. Kansas City International Airport will be listed under that location. The in-person appointment typically takes less than 10 minutes.

Applicants need to bring documentation proving identity and citizenship status. They may visit http://www.tsa.gov/tsa-precheck/required-documentation for a complete list of required documents.  A U.S. passport is all that is needed for ID. They will finish the process onsite at the airport by providing fingerprints for a background check. The application fee is $85 and can be paid by credit card, money order, company check, or certified/cashier's check. Cash and personal checks are not accepted.

After completing enrollment, successful applicants will receive a Known Traveler Number that they can enter when booking travel reservations. TSA began to open the first TSA PreCheck application centers in December 2013. More than 750,000 people have enrolled nationally.

NOTE: This TSA Pre✓™ event will operate for one week from Monday, March 9 through Friday, March 13. The event is pre-security and does not require the applicant to be a ticketed passenger. The enrollment center is located in KCI Terminal C, Gates 72-73. While walk-ins are allowed, priority will be given to those with reservations. Please bring the required documents for proving identity (Passport, etc.).
