Two people were injured in a one-car crash that occurred Saturday in Benton County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 17-year-old Elezabeth K. Harmon, Smithton, was the driver of a 2002 Ford Taurus that was westbound on Lost Valley Road, .3 miles east of Main Street. The vehicle was traveling too fast for the road conditions, the Patrol said, and began to slide, traveling off the right side of the roadway, struck an embankment and a ditch, causing the vehicle to overturn. The Taurus then returned to the road and came to rest on its top.

Harmon suffered moderate injuries, while her passenger, 17-year-old Taylor N. McIntyre, Warsaw, suffered minor injuries. Both were transported to Bothwell Regional Health Center. Harmon was wearing a safety device, while McIntyre was not, the report said.

The Benton County Sheriff's Department assisted the Patrol with the investigation, the report added.
