Authorities say two people have drowned over the weekend in Missouri waterways.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the first drowning happened around noon Saturday in Truman Lake. The patrol says 62-year-old Edgar Tyler, of Independence, was found 2.5 miles (about 4 kilometers) downstream of the Missouri 13 bridge, which is 6 miles (about 10 kilometers) east of Osceola.

The second victim, 28-year-old Michael Simmons, of Springfield, went missing Saturday night 4 miles (about 6.5 kilometers) south of Greenfield in Turnback Creek. His friends found him about 20 minutes later submerged in about 4 feet (about 1.5 meters) of water.
