Barge workers located a body floating in the water on Sunday afternoon in Jackson County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol the body was found around 5 p.m. Sunday on the Missouri River, north of the 355 mile marker.

The body had not yet been identified at the time of the report, but the cause of death was listed as a drowning.

The Patrol recovered the body, and Sugar Creek PD is handling the investigation.
