Velma Jean Petree, 79, of Sedalia, passed away Saturday evening, March 22, 2014, at Fair View Nursing Home.

She was born February 20, 1935, in Marshall, daughter of Cue and Abbie Findley Potter.

Mrs. Petree was a member of Providence Baptist Church. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.

Surviving are two sons, John N. Petree Jr., of Lee's Summit, and James L. Petree, of Moberly; three daughters, Abbie Turner, Sheryl Michael and Lisa Rivers, all of Sedalia; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ernest D. Potter, of Sedalia.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Findley.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Providence Baptist Church, with the Rev. Marlin Brown officiating.
Burial will be in Providence Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Heckart Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Providence Cemetery Association.
