Velma Nadine Craig, 93, of Sedalia, passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2014, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

She was born October 6, 1921, in Sedalia, daughter of Robert Earl and Ida Mae Cowan Paxton.

Velma was a nurse’s aid for 21 years at Bothwell Regional Health Center and various nursing homes. She was a member of Jolly Elders, A.A.R.P., and served as nobel grand of the Loyal Rebekah Lodge 260. She also worked as a volunteer for the Division of Family Services and the Bothwell Regional Health Center Auxiliary.

She is survived by one son, Ernest Craig of Smithton; and four daughters, Elizabeth Closser of Pilot Grove; Deanna Gleason of Sedalia; Gloria Kruse of Windsor; and Kay Milligan of Aviston, IL; 12 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, November 21, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Chad McMullin officiating.

Casket bearers will be Ernest Craig, Jr., Shaun White, Ryan Hausam, Donnie Paxton, Matt Cooper and Charles Kruse, Jr.

Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday, November 20, at Heckart Funeral Home.
