Wendell Lloyd Wilfong, 71

Wendell Lloyd Wilfong age 71 of Otterville passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at the Harry S. Truman Veterans Memorial Hospital in Columbia.

He was born on November 8, 1943 in Hiram, Missouri son of Franklin Thomas and Mattie Carver Wilfong. He was married on June 8, 1973 in Otterville to Patricia "Pat" Caton and she survives of the home. Wendell attended Zalma and Greenville public schools.

He served during the Vietnam Era from 1961 until 1967 in the Army. He worked for Superior Builders in Tipton and was self employed as a carpenter. He later worked as a Corrections Officer at the Department Of Corrections in the Jefferson City area. He was a member of the 40 & 8 and the American Legion. Wendell enjoyed restoring old cars, deer hunting, woodworking, making knives and going to the boat.

He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Besides his wife he is survived by his four sons; Jimmy (Christy) Wilfong of Otterville, Matt (Melissa) Wilfong, of Tipton, Jeff (Michelle) Wilfong of Tipton, Mike (Tami) Wilfong of Smithton, two brothers; Ken Wilfong of Windsor, Clarence Wilfong of Whitewater, MO, one sister; Shirley Barclay of Carrollton, Georgia, Nine grandchildren; Drew Williams, Coy Wilfong, Drake Wilfong, Madisyn Sprinkle, Raylyn Wilfong, Cierra Sprinkle, Jacie Wilfong, Caton Wilfong and Darcy Wilfong. He was preceded by his parents, one son; Patrick David Wilfong, one sister; Evie Wilson, five brothers Ben Wilfong, Coy Wilfong, Les Wilfong, Milford Wilfong and Cletis "Dick" Wilfong.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M.
Monday, January 26, 2015 at Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home with Rev. Russ Slocum officiating. Friends may call after 2:00 P.M. Sunday with the family receiving friends at 5:00 P.M. starting with the 40 & 8 Memorial Service with visitation continuing until 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Burial will be at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Otterville.

There will be full military honors by V.F.W. Post 2591.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jimmy Wilfong, Matt Wilfong, Jeff Wilfong, Mike Wilfong, Robert Wilfong and Russell Mackeldon. Honorary pallbearers will be Christy Wilfong, Melissa Wilfong, Michelle Wilfong, Tami Wilfong and the grandchildren. Memorials may be given to the donor"s choice.
