How many of you have ever shopped at our local Orscheln Farm and Home? I became familiar with this company when I moved to Missouri.  Mexico Missouri has one, Centralia has one, and we have one in Sedalia as well.  In the not too distant future, it will be getting a brand new name, and new owners.

Orscheln Farm and Home stores will undergo name changes at more than 80 locations in Missouri following regulatory approval on the sale of the company.  The Federal Trade Commission this week approved the sale of Orscheln Farm and Home to the Tractor Supply Company, a Brentwood, Tennessee-based retailer.

So what does this mean for our store in Sedalia? Well first, Rob wrote about this in February of last year, and you can read that article HERE.  Tractor Supply has now gotten the official word from the FTC and federal regulators that the sale has been approved.  Tractor Supply Company bought the chain for $320 million dollars.

There was a condition of the approval, and that 85 of the Orscheln locations will have to me sold.  Thirty-eight Orscheln locations to be re-branded as Tractor Supply include the stores from this area in Trenton, Bethany, Cameron, Chillicothe, Brookfield, Macon, and Carrollton.  Sixteen Missouri locations, including Orscheln’s first store in Sedalia, will be sold to the Iowa-based Bomgaars chain. The flagship location in Moberly will remain with Tractor Supply Company.
