Andrew Clay Smith, 87, of Sedalia, passed away Monday, March 9, 2015, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg.

He was born February 28, 1928, in Sedalia, son of Andrew Clay Sr. and Lois Catherine Alfrey Smith. On December 29, 1955 in Sedalia, he married Anna Lee Bolton, who preceded him in death on January 19, 2005.

Andrew worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier for 28 years. He was also a driver for OATS Transportation, a job he enjoyed very much. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

He was a member of East Sedalia Baptist Church and served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. He was a member of the Good Sam’s Camping Club, a loyal fan of both the Cardinals and Royals, and liked to play the harmonica.

He is survived by two daughters, Carol (Steve) Zagar, of Grandview, and Veronica (John) Myers, of Sedalia; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Stevens; a brother, Russell T. Smith; and grandson, Johnque Myers.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 12, at Heckart Funeral Home, with Jeff Page officiating.

Casket bearers will be Steven Zagar, Bradley Myers, Jeremy Zagar, Kit Woodling, Eric McGinnis and Josh McGinnis.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until time of service Thursday at Heckart Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to East Sedalia Baptist Church.
