Behka’s Enquiring Minds Recap: Week of January 5 [OPINION]
Every day I rack my brain to try to think of things for you and I to talk about. I see what I do on the air as a way of conversing with you - but most of the time it's just me talking. So with our surveys, I ask, and you answer. Here's a look back at some of your answers for our questions - I couldn't possibly go through them all, but here's some of the ones that stood out.
On Monday I asked you about those words that just get in your craw and bug you. You know, those annoying words that you wish would just go away. What are some words that need to be banned? Is there a word you hate so much you never want to hear it again?
I gotta admit, I'm guilty of this one. I know I say it too much, but then I also say "Awesome" too much. It's a habit.
Now this one pretty deep. I guess we all wish we could live in a world where this word didn't exist. Or maybe just a world where noone understood what it meant.
Those are pretty hateful. I don't even want to write them out here, they're so hateful. I think we could easily just all decide not to use those terrible words anymore.
Tuesday I asked you guys about your 2014.... .and your 2015. What was the best thing that happened to you this year? What are you looking forward to this year?
My son came to see me two times from Chicago. Lookin forward to getting a permanent job this year.
That sounds so nice! Family time is always something I enjoy. I hope you get that job this year! I know it's rough to be unemployed or seasonally working.
raiders beat the chiefs...repeat.
Sports! Doug did not like this answer one bit. It must be something with the mens that run with the ball and fall down!
survived, surviving again
See, that's not too much to ask, is it?!! At least you've got realistic goals.
On Wednesday, I asked you about seeing Sedalia with different eyes. Let's say you have an out of town guest for 24 hours and you have the day off. They’ve never visited you before. Where do you take them? What do you do and what sights do you see? What are the must see and do things in Sedalia?
Oh yes, that is definitely a must! It's so historic and beautiful, everything about it is just amazing.
The Bothwell Lodge!
Another great choice! I love the Lodge, even if it does get a bit hot in the summer.
Now this one... I'm a little stumped on. Now if it was someone from Europe or something, who had never been in a Wal-Mart, then sure, I get that. But if they're from, say, Ohio.... they've probably got a Wal-mart there. Why would they need to see ours?
Then on Thursday, I asked you about being sick and going to work. Apparently six out of ten of us go to work anyway if we're under the weather. Will you go to work sick? What do you consider "sick enough" to call in and stay home?
Where I work at one gets penalizes for callig in sick even if you have earned the sick hours to use. For the 1st day/night you call in sick you can't use your sick time. If you have vacation hours or holiday hours you are required to use those hours on your 1st sick day/night. The following days you are allowed to use your sick hours. Though if you call in sick you get a point per day/night you call in. If you get 4 points within a year you get a verbal warning. Then if you build up to 6 -8 points you are terminated from the work area. So you feel like shouldn't call in sick though exposing co-workers and the publc your illness.Though if you get a doctor's excuse you could possibly not get the point(s). So in a way you are damned and doomed and punished for calling in sick though you are coughing up a lung.
I am lucky that we don't have a point system or anything like that. But then, for the most part with the folks who work at the station, calling in sick is pretty rare. Or at least it is for me, I hardly ever do it.
I don't go to work if I have a fever. If I feel really miserable I'll stay home because I don't get anything done anyway.
With me, I'll be just as productive sick as I am well....for the most part. It would have to be a pretty bad cold for me to not be able to get my work done.
Yes, if I have a cold, but no if I have a fever or the flu
I can understand that, and that seems to be the general consensus. I will come in if I'm a little sick, too, but I'll make sure I have plenty of disinfectant spray to hose down the studio with. I don't want to get anybody else sick!
ANYWAY, that'll do it for us this week. But, I'll have a bunch of brand new ones next week, so come back and take some more surveys. Make sure you go back and take any of the other surveys you may have missed and you'll get points to win prizes!
