Boys & Girls Club, PROENERGY Announce Partnership
Boys & Girls Clubs of West Central Missouri is proud to announce PROENERGY as the naming rights partner of its new 30,000-square-foot facility.
The Boys & Girls Club PROENERGY Teen Center will focus on serving junior high and high school students after school and during the summer, with an emphasis on academics and workforce development.
“We are extremely excited to have partnered with Jeff and Cara Canon and PROENERGY with a significant investment in our Teen Center,” said BGC Campaign Co-Chair RJ Lindstrom. “Their vision to help our teens, invest in future generations and make Sedalia an even better community is unparalleled.”
“Sedalia is more than our global headquarters: it’s our home, our community, and our primary source for talent,” said Jeff Canon, PROENERGY CEO. “Cara and I have found that, with just a little encouragement, the young men and women of Missouri make anything possible. The future leaders of our country are right here, and we’re proud to help the Boys & Girls Club give them a place to shine.”
The centerpiece of the Teen Center is a 1,400-square-foot workforce development lab/workshop that will give high schoolers the opportunity to learn life skills and take part in programs focusing on career and/or college readiness. The building will also feature a 7,500-square-foot gym, art and music rooms, games rooms, a commercial kitchen and dining space, as well as BGC Administrative offices.
Plans for the project began in early 2022 and included six-month phase to study the viability of building a teen center, as well as the capacity to sustain funding. During the last 18 months of campaign fundraising more than $7 million was raised locally from Sedalia and surrounding communities.
“We are continually overwhelmed by the generosity of this community and their willingness to invest in the future,” Lindstrom said.
The Boys & Girls Club PROENERGY Teen Center will break ground April 5. Construction is expected to take between 15 and 18 months, according to Lindstrom.
