A 34-year old man from California, MO was recently arrested on drug charges in Moniteau County.

The Moniteau County Sheriff's Department says deputies stopped a vehicle for licence plate and stop sign violation on Tuesday. The vehicle pulled over and stopped at the Post Office in California.

The driver, Christopher Winter, then reportedly exited the vehicle and began to walk away. A deputy ordered Winter to come back to the vehicle, but he refused. Winter then walked into the Post Office, with the deputy following and again ordering Winter back to the vehicle, which he continued to refuse.

The deputy then grabbed Winter, who resisted. He was placed under arrest for resisting and a search revealed methamphetamine and paraphernalia on his person.

A K-9 unit was called to investigate the vehicle and gave a positive alert for drugs. Deputies also recovered a loaded handgun and shotgun from the vehicle. Winter was arrested and taken to the Moniteau County Jail for Possession of a Controlled Substance (meth), Resisting Arrest and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Bond was set at $35,000.00.
