Carrollton Woman Killed in Chariton County Crash

A Carrollton woman was killed in a one-vehicle accident that occurred Sunday afternoon in Chariton County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a southbound 2006 Chevy Express van, driven by 68-year-old Caren J. Bittiker of Carrolton, was on Highway 11, one mile north of Brunswick around 2:45 p.m. Sunday, when the van ran off the right side of the road. The driver overcorrected and the van overturned, coming to rest on its wheels.

Bittiker was pronounced dead at the scene at 3 p.m., by Chariton County Coroner Nyle Bowyer. The body was taken to Bittiker Funeral Home in Carrollton.

The Chevy van was totaled and towed by L& L Towing.

Chariton County Deputies, Brunswick Police and Fire assisted the Patrol.
