Smith-Cotton High School senior Charlotte Fischer has accepted an academic scholarship to Drury University in Springfield, where she also will continue her golf career.

Fischer, the daughter of Shannon Hunt and Loel Fischer, was a four-year varsity letter winner for the Lady Tigers golf team. She earned First Team and Second Team All-Conference honors, made the All-District Team, was a two-time MSHSAA state qualifier and achieved Academic All-State recognition twice.

She also has been involved with the Team SCREAM robotics program and Queen City CAPS. A collection of factors played into Fischer’s decision to choose Drury.

“I got to meet Coach (Faith Hopkins) and she was super welcoming and super clear about the process,” Fischer said. “They have a pretty good journalism and multi-media program, which is what I am going into. My dad played golf there, so I am very excited to get to play for the same school that my dad did.”

S-C Girls Golf Head Coach Craig Harvey said: “Charlotte represents everything you want in a student-athlete. Charlotte has been a tremendous part of our program. Her dedication, work ethic, and love for the game have earned her this opportunity to play at the next level. We’re incredibly proud of her and excited to see what she accomplishes.”
