According to a press release from Pettis County Prosecuting Attorney, Phillip Sawyer, a Pettis County Jury returned a guilty verdict on Friday (Dec. 16), resulting in the conviction of 25-year old Travis J. Clunie, of Sedalia.

At the end of the two-day trial that began Dec. 15, Clunie was convicted of Sodomy in the First Degree. Pettis County Prosecuting Attorney Phillip Sawyer alleged and argued that on an unknown date between January and March of 2016, the defendant subjected another individual to a deviate sexual act through forcible compulsion.

After reaching a guilty verdict, the Jury returned from the deliberations and recommended a sentence of 30 years for the offense of Sodomy in the First Degree.

The defendant was remanded to the Pettis County Jail for formal sentencing to occur on January 27, 2017, at 9 a.m.
