The Community Blood Center is having a big incentive for their next round of blood drives.

They're going to be offering all presenting donors at any of CBC’s seven neighborhood donor centers will receive their choice of a Royals t-shirt OR two vouchers to a game! It's going to be going on from now to July 9th.

Thirty-seven percent of the population is eligible to donate blood, but only about seven percent actually donate.  Approximately 60 percent of collections come from Blood Drives chaired by volunteers at schools, churches, organizations, and businesses. More than 1,500 chairpersons helped organize these drives last year. Donating blood is one of easiest ways to support your community. Your donation will save the life of an individual right here, right now.

If you have never donated blood before, you are probably wondering what you can expect. Although the actual blood draw takes only a few minutes, the entire donation process may take an hour or more.  All you have to do is sign in, they do a mini physical, and then you donate.  It's pretty simple, and you need to do it!  It's such a quick thing that can help so many people.  Your blood, when you donate whole, can go to help three different people, just from one bag.

The next closest local drive will be at the mobile center at Fitzgibbon Memorial Hospital in Marshall, 2305 South Highway 65 on July 5th.  You can get on the schedule here.  And hey, if you're only doing it for the free Royals vouchers, I'm not here to judge.  Who wouldn't want the chance to head to a game after just spending an hour on a cot and eating a snack?

Donatingly yours,
Behka
