Dallas Smith, III, 52, of Sedalia, departed his life, Wednesday, February 20, 2013.

Dallas was born March 20, 1960, to Norma (Clark) Patrick and Dallas Smith, II.

Dallas Smith, III, graduated from Smith Cotton High School in 1978, where he was not only an excellent student, but a very good athlete as well. He loved sports, especially basketball, football and track. Following graduation, he enlisted in the US Army where he served with pride, and received various honors and awards. After having served three years, he became ill and returned home.

Remembering Dallas and his infamous words of wisdom, along with his charismatic personality, are his mother and step-father, Norma J. and Milton F. Patrick, of Columbia; his father, Dallas Smith, II, of Glen Burnie, MD; siblings, Michael D. Smith, of Kansas City, MO, Anthony Q. Smith, of AR, Kenneth L. Smith (Brigitt), of Indianapolis, IN, Nigel “Sam” Smith, of Kansas City, MO, Leonard Patrick (Rachael), of Moline, IL, Phyllis Cline (Tom), of Sedalia, and Vertina Williams, of Columbia; a daughter, Cheyenne Smith, of Sedalia; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

His grandparents preceded him in death along with his sister, Elizabeth A. “Leavy” Smith.

Dallas loved the Lord and he joined the Pentecostal Church at an early age.

Visitation will be 11 am until 12 pm, Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel, followed by funeral services from 12 pm until 1 pm with Minister Marie Anderson officiating. Casket attendants will be Dale Boggs, Matt Sims, Darren Cline, Lozrome Washington, Donald Patrick and Howard D. Patrick. Honorary casket attendants will be Tony Richmond and Terrance Cline. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery with full military honors.
