Don’t Miss the Beautiful Butterflies at Powell Gardens
Nothing can make a nice warm, sunny day more perfect than seeing a beautifully colored butterfly. If you want to see a lot of them, you should head to Powell Gardens for their Festival of Butterflies from Thursday, July 22 through Sunday, August 8. It's a great way to get back to nature and enjoy a great afternoon outdoors.
Festival attendees can enjoy a close encounter with tropical butterflies and moths from all over the world in the Martha Jane Phillips Starr Conservatory. Then check out the trees covered with paper and monarch butterflies in the replica of the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve in Michoacán, Mexico located in the Seed to Plate Greenhouse.
You can even learn about the lifecycle of the butterfly from the Butterfly Meadow to the Caterpillar Petting Zoo and finish up your visit by checking out Missouri's native butterflies in the Native Butterly Habitat.
There are other fun things the whole family can partake in as well. There's the Butterfly Breakfast Bash every weekend from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM CDT. Kids can get sweets, while mom and dad can enjoy some adult beverages in the Visitor Center. Or enjoy some of the other food and drink vendors on the property.
There's also plenty of activities for kids as well. Like taking your butterfly personality test. Stopping by the Creation Station and making your own butterfly wings. Marching in the butterfly parade and more.
Admission to the Butterfly Festival is $12.00 for adults, kids 12 and under are $5.00. Festival packs that include some other goodies are also available. You can get tickets and learn more about the festival on the Powell Gardens website.
