Eleven local industries were recognized Thursday night at the 15th annual Manufacturer's Milestone Anniversary Banquet at the Sedalia Country Club.

Economic Development Sedalia Pettis County Executive Director Jessica Craig explained the reason for the dinner:

“Economic Development recognizes companies for every five years that they are here in the community for thriving and surviving. We had about 260 people come out and support our existing businesses,” Craig said.

“We drive by these facilities every single day. But not a lot of people know what goes on behind the front doors. So this is our attempt to recognize, thank them and appreciate their footprint here that could really be anywhere else on the globe,” Craig noted.

About 35-40 percent of the workforce in Pettis County is employed in manufacturing, Craig added. “Every day, they drive from about 10 surrounding counties to support and work in manufacturing jobs in Pettis County,” she concluded.

A list of the manufacturers and their number of years in businesses are listed as follows:

Mid States Specialty Eggs – 10
WireCo World Group Distribution Center – 10
