Gremlins Victorious Over Helias

The Sacred Heart Gremlins soccer team beat Helias 2-1 in overtime Monday evening at Clover Dell Park.

After a scoreless first half, senior George Bain scored a goal from an assist from fellow senior Jackson Manning just three minutes into the second half. The Crusaders answered about eight minutes later, tying the score 1-1. Junior goalie Zander Jackson played outstanding defense, stopping several scoring attempts by Helias.

The Gremlins had an impressive attack in the "sudden-death" overtime scoring just 54 seconds into the period with senior Jackson Manning scoring the winning goal from an assist from sophomore Gabriel Malacara.

Final score: Sacred Heart 2, Helias 1

In the JV contest (half of a regulation game), Sacred Heart lost 3-2 with goals scored by senior Andres Vanegas and junior Ramses Rivera-Montoya.
