Senior Juan Fernandez scored his second hat trick of the year to propel Sacred Heart to a 4-0 victory over the Marshall Owls.

Hampered by multiple injuries to begin the year, Juan Fernandez is now healthy and proving to be a very dangerous threat on offense for the Gremlins. Fernandez scored twice in the first half, both times beating the Marshall defense with pure speed.

The Gremlin’s leading goal scorer on the year, Ian Viscarra, then scored his tenth goal of the year beating the Marshall goalkeeper on a direct kick from outside the box.

Marshall came out strong in the second half with the wind at their backs. Junior GK Dallin Chappell continued his remarkably strong play and denied every scoring opportunity. Fernandez again showed his quality and pace, splitting two Marshall defenders and then deftly touching the ball past the keeper for the hat trick.

The Gremlin’s defense continues to be rock solid recording the shutout. The back line of Jude Rollings, Juan Pablo Suarez, Jude Jenkins, and John Ulbrich have now conceded only four goals in the last 10 games. Keeper Dallin Chappell lowered his goals against average to .85 per game on the season.

Sacred Heart (7-6) plays Stover (2-10) today in the Kaysinger Conference Tournament at Stover.
