Healthy U is accepting applications for the 2019 class.

A press release from Bothwell Regional Health Center indicates the 11 members of the 2018 Healthy U Class are approaching the end of their yearlong journey and the group is now beginning the process to select next year’s class.

Applicants for Healthy U must live or work in Pettis County and be at least 21 years old. Healthy U is described as a community wellness program designed to inspire and motivate participants to adopt healthier lifestyles. The program is a project of the Healthy Living Action Group (HLAG).

HLAG Chair Melissa Guffin said she encourages anyone who is open to changing their lifestyle to apply.

“They do need to be serious about lifestyle changes. It’s a yearlong program; quite the commitment,” Guffin said. “They need to be ready to make the lifestyle change, both physically and mentally. Anyone interested in helping make a difference in their community and leading by example through a healthy lifestyle, exercise and good nutrition, is encouraged to apply.”

Once applications are turned in, HLAG will begin to interview candidates in November to determine which applicants will be part of the class of 2019. Bothwell says that to ensure the process is impartial, all identifying information is removed from the applications. It’s important that applicants provide as much information as possible, Guffin said. The chosen applicants will be announced at the Healthy U Night of Inspiration on January 3.

Guffin said, “The class of 2018 students are doing fantastic. All students have seen scale and non-scale victories and are seeing changes in their lives. They’ve bonded as a group and learned a lot about health, nutrition, exercise and mental health.

Healthy U 2019 applications can be found at and Applications must be turned in by 12:00 p.m. on Friday, November. 2.
