Heber Hunt Helps Sedalia Police Department
On May 18, Heber Hunt Elementary kindergartners presented a check for $3,470.05 to the Sedalia Police Department for the purchase of four ballistic vests and helmets.
The money was raised through bracelet and sucker sales, a lemonade stand, Frozen Friday ice cream sales, staff jeans day donations and donations from local business owners.
Kindergarten teacher Holly Andrews said through the project, the students built positive relationships with the police officers.
"Officers came to our school several times," Andrews said. "They spent time playing games, playing at recess and just chatting with the kids. A few officers attended our Day of Service at Liberty Park. They played kick ball and chatted during lunch."
