Some good news to share. The Missouri Veteran's Home recently posted on their Facebook page that they have received a great response on donating in-kind items to their home, so now they're asking people who would still like to help the residents to consider helping the home with Christmas presents.

We can do this through donating to their Tree of Stars. The Tree of Stars is a way for groups and individuals to partner with the Veterans Assistance League to make the holidays a little brighter for the 200 veterans who live at the Missouri Veteran's Home in Warrensburg.

As donations are received dog tags with a personalized message from the donor will be added to the Tree of Stars in the lobby of the home. The goal of this campaign is to raise $10,000 which will allow the home to give each veteran a present valued at around $50 dollars. They are asking for donations of $25, $50, $100 or $200 or more from the community.

The gifts will be hand wrapped and personally delivered, along with a visit from Santa and songs by carolers. The gifts and merriment are important to veterans who may not receive anything or those who have just moved into the home.

If you'd like to donate you can send your donation made payable to:

Veterans Assistance League "Tree of Stars", 1300 Veterans Road, Warrensburg,64093. If you'd like more information you can find it on the Missouri Veterans Home Facebook page here. Or you can contact Latisha Koetting at 660-429-4661.
