Seven Smith-Cotton High School seniors have earned academic scholarships to perform in the vocal music department at State Fair Community College in Sedalia.

• Brooklyn Ditzfeld, the daughter of Jennifer and Kevin Ditzfeld, performed with S-C’s New Score Singers show choir for three years; she also participated in volleyball. She was selected to the All-State Show Choir three years and the All-State Choir two years. Ditzfeld also was named to the West Central 9/10 Honor Choir and the West Central All District Choir twice each. At the District Solo/Ensemble competition, she received Exemplary ratings six times; at the State Solo/Ensemble competition, she received four Gold ratings two Silver ratings. As a senior, she was the recipient of the 2026 Chad Williams Award and the 2026 National School Choral Award.

• Sara Gubceac, the daughter of Nelea Gubceac, performed with S-C’s Vox Chamber Choir three years, and was named to the All-District Treble Choir. She twice earned Outstanding ratings at the District Solo/Small Ensemble competition. She also was a member of SCUFL, S-C’s foreign language club.

• Norah Hubbs, the daughter of Jennifer and Justin Hubbs, performed with New Score Singers three years and was selected for the West Central All-District Choir twice. At the District Solo/Small Ensemble competition, she earned an Exemplary rating once and Outstanding ratings twice. She earned a Silver rating at the State Solo/Small Ensemble competition. She also was a member of the S-C DECA chapter.

• Mariana Mosley, daughter of Nuvia and Albert Mosley, performed with New Score Singers two years and S-C’s Vox Chamber Choir one year. She was named to the West Central All-District Choir twice. Mosley earned Exemplary ratings twice and Outstanding ratings twice at the District Solo/Small Ensemble competition. At the State Solo/Small Ensemble competition, she received Gold and Silver ratings. Also active in the S-C Theatre Department, Mosley was a four-year member of International Thespian Society and was a cast member for S-C’s productions of “The Crucible,” “Dark Road,” “Queens,” “Alice In Wonderland,” “Annie,” “Wizard of Oz” and “Beauty and The Beast.”

• Micaiah Sherman, daughter of Michelle and Joel Sherman, performed with New Score Singers two years and S-C’s Vox Chamber Choir one year. She played volleyball for Smith-Cotton and Applewood Christian School four years, and was inducted into the Tri M music honor society and National Honor Society. She earned Outstanding ratings three times at the District Solo/Small Ensemble competition, and was named to the West Central All District Treble Choir.

• Nahiyah White, daughter of Christina Powers and Dontrale White, performed three years with New Score Singers, was a S-C cheerleader three years and was active in JROTC four years. She twice was selected for the West Central 9/10 Honor Choir and twice was named to the West-Central All District Treble Choir. Additionally, she was a cast member for S-C’s productions of “Into the Woods,” “Alice in Wonderland” and “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare.”

• Jacob Wise, son of Amy and Sam Wise, performed with New Score Singers three years and twice was selected for the All-State Show Choir. He was named to the West Central 9/10 Honor Choir twice and the West-Central All-District Choir once. He received Exemplary ratings three times at the District Solo/Small Ensemble competition, and a Gold rating once and Silver ratings twice at the State Solo/Small Ensemble competition. He was a member of S-C’s DECA chapter and was inducted into the National Honor Society. Wise also was active in athletics, playing basketball all four years of high school and serving as a Tigers team captain his senior year; played two years of varsity golf; two years of football; and a JV season of baseball.

S-C Vocal Music Director Avery Mather said, “I am so proud of these students for taking their singing talents beyond high school. Singing is a lifelong joy and it is such a wonderful thing to see so many students wanting to continue to participate in choirs even after high school. I wish these students well in their next endeavors!”
