Illinois Man Dies After Being Struck By Anchor
An Illinois man died in a boating accident at Lake of the Ozarks on Wednesday.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 55-year-old Craig H. Gathmann of Mainto, Ill., was operating a 1998 Four Winns 240 Horizon around 5 p.m. Wednesday at the 19.5 mile marker on the main channel in Camden County. The vessel was under way with the anchor still in the water. The tension in the rope caused the anchor to leave the water and strike Gathmann.
He was transported by Lake West Ambulance. Gathmann was pronounced deceased at Lake Regional Hospital by Dr. Raina Shanks at 7:04 p.m.
Sunrise Beach Fire assisted the Patrol.
