While football and pumpkin spice lattes are great and all, perhaps nothing says "fall is here" (unofficially) more than seeing the trees change color. It truly is the spirit of the season. And if you want to see autumn at its brightest, there's actually a scientific way to figure out when the colors of fall will come to the Tri-State area.

The Missouri Department of Conservation predicts that the optimal time to see fall colors in Missouri, and that time is the weeks of Oct. 26 and Nov. 2. According to the website,

The peak of fall color in Missouri is usually around mid-October. This is when maples, ashes, hickories, and oaks are at the height of their fall display. Normally by late October, the colors are fading and the leaves are dropping from the trees.

Of course, there is no 100% accuracy that this will happen during these dates, this is completely an estimate based on weather. Some of the best places to visit for fall in Missouri to see all the colors are Ha Ha Tonka State Park, Taum Sauk Mountain, Alley Spring, and Tower Grove Park. Plus, the Tri-States have some pretty parks and trails to visit during the fall season.
