Procrastination can be costly. How costly? Well, this is a great example as three individuals in Missouri have waited almost long enough to lose $50,000 prizes that will be expiring in less than a month from today.

In case you weren't aware, the Missouri Lottery allows winners six months to come forward and claim prizes. According to the Missouri Lottery Unclaimed Prizes page, there are three different $50,000 prizes that will be forfeited in June. Here they are in the order that they'll expire:

  • $50,000 Powerball - Casey's, 6685 S. Highway 13, Higginsville, Missouri - Drawn on Dec. 6, 2025 - Expires June 4, 2026
  • $50,000 Powerball - Car-Mac's, 85 Highway O, Holland, Missouri - Drawn on Dec. 15, 2025 - Expires June 13, 2026
  • $50,000 Powerball - Downstream Q Store, 4777 Downstream Blvd., Joplin, Missouri - Drawn on Dec. 17, 2025 - Expires June 15, 2026

It's obvious to me that these 3 individuals either misplaced their Powerball tickets or flat out don't know they won. If the tickets are lost, that's a sad day for someone (or many someone's). The bottom line is if any of the locations in Higginsville, Holland or Joplin look familiar and you think you might have picked up a ticket at any of these places about 5 months ago, now is the time to start searching the car seats or floorboard of your vehicle to see if you have a ticket worth $50K just sitting there. That would be the best kind of surprise to help you deal with the good kind of inflation - to your bank account.
