Stop me if you've heard me share this before, but Missouri looks like it could be in trouble for upcoming weekend storms. The state has been singled out by forecasters as the one state most likely to get severe weather in just a few days.

Thanks to meteorologist Travis Roberts for seeing this update from the NOAA Storm Prediction Center first. Here's a little backstory about what I've noticed about the forecasters at NOAA and the National Weather Service in general. They tend to be very conservative when it comes to issuing advisories and warnings and there's a good reason for that. They know that computer models have a lot of changing variables that can decide if an area will see stormy weather or not. They rarely issue advisories this many days ahead of time.

All that being said, the NOAA forecasters are already warning that Missouri could be a trouble spot for severe storm development on Saturday, March 29, 2025.

The severe weather possibilities don't end on Saturday either as their outlook for Sunday, March 30 extends to include part of Illinois, too.

The last time I saw NOAA issue an outlook this many days ahead of time was for Friday, March 14 during the historic tornado outbreak in Missouri. I'm not saying that will happen again. This incoming system doesn't look nearly as powerful or volatile, but it is worth paying attention to.

Just know that Missouri will likely see more storms on Saturday and parts of the state on Sunday, too. The springtime severe weather season has settled in.
