Jess Jackson Byrd, 74, of Fristoe, died Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at his home.  He was born on August 20, 1940, at Warsaw, Missouri, a son of Jess and Stella (Smith) Byrd.

On May 26, 1983, at Claremore, Oklahoma, he was united in marriage to Virginia Lee Smith, who preceded him in death on November 9, 2014.

He drove a truck for Benton County for two years and Bailey Sand and Gravel in Warsaw for 38 years.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by:  three daughters, Nancy Edmiston and Ronnie of Tonganoxie, Kansas, Karen Petech and Dennis of Winchester, Kansas, and Tina Byrd of Warsaw; four sons, John Byrd and Brenda of Sedalia, Tom Byrd of Warsaw, Robert Byrd and Becky of Edwardsville, Kansas, and Jesse Byrd and Crystal Miller of Warsaw; one step-daughter, Donna Pendelton of Blue Springs; two step-sons, Richard Williams of Ionia and Robert Williams of the State of California; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Stella Byrd, and two brothers, Kenneth Byrd and Lowell Gene Byrd.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 27, 2015, at Fredonia Baptist Church, Warsaw, with Rev. Russell Lucas officiating.  Burial will be in Fredonia Cemetery, Warsaw.

The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. on Thursday at the church.

Memorial contributions be given to the family in care of the Fox Funeral Home, Cole Camp.

Pallbearers will be Jason Salley, Jeremy Pitts, John Pitts, Robert Jefferies, Dale Hart, and Shane Supernault.
