This article is compiled from a report issued by the Johnson County Sheriff's Office.


 

Deputies responded to the 400 block of Jefferson Street in Warrensburg on the morning of September 10th. Upon arrival, Deputies made contact with Warrensburg Police, who advised a silver Ford F250 work truck had been stolen from the parking lot. The vehicle has a GPS installed on it, and was currently showing its location at the corner of SE 200 and SE 301, just off the north side of SE 200. The vehicle was located, and all information was passed on to the Warrensburg Police.


 

On the morning of September 10th, Deputies went to the 800 block of NE MM Highway in Knob Noster in an attempt to contact a subject with a warrant for their arrest. Deputies made contact with Ryan Daxter MaGee, and placed him under arrest. MaGee had a warrant from Johnson County issued in October of 2024 on original charges of felony Forgery, Failure to Register a Motor Vehicle, and Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Maintaining Financial Responsibility. Bond was set at $5,000 cash only. On September 18th, bond was modified to release MaGee of his own recognizance the next day (September 19th).


 

Deputies were dispatched to a business in rural Warrensburg, 452 NW 13 Highway. The manager wished to speak to Deputies in regards to a shoplifting case. The manager at the store reported two black females stole diapers and ran out of the store. Information on the theft was gathered on scene.


 

On the morning of September 11th, Deputies were dispatched to 92 NW 58 Highway in rural Centerview in refence to a subject walking southbound on Highway 58. The reporting party advised of a male subject wearing a brown Carhart jacket, blue jeans, sunglasses, and carrying a black backpack. Deputies observed a subject matching the description provided walking in the 50 block of SW 58 Highway. Deputies made contact with the subject who identified himself as Walter Paulino Grijalba. Grijalba advised he was walking from Warrensburg to Holden. Deputies asked Grijalba if he wanted a ride, and he advised he did. A consent search of his person and his backpack was granted, which revealed a lanyard with two keys inside the backpack. Grijalba said the keys were found in a ditch near AG Power on Highway 58, while he was walking. The keys were seized, and Grijalba advised he walks the rest of the way, denying help from Law Enforcement. Grijalba was released from the scene with no further action.


 

Deputies were dispatched to the 400 block of NW W Highway in Kingsville on the afternoon of September 8th. Andrea Nalls reported a vehicle had been stolen from their driveway. Upon arrival, Officers learned there was a civil contract between the registered owner of two vehicles, a Dodge truck and a Pontiac Grand Prix. The owner had sent a third party to repossess the vehicle. Nalls stated she wished to get her personal belongings from the truck. Deputies advised the owner of the vehicle to return the personal property as soon as possible. On September 11th, the reporting party called back and stated they had only gotten a guitar and one bag back from the truck. Nalls also stated she noticed her bank account had a transfer from their account. She was advised to get copies of all property still in the truck and a bank statement.


 

Deputies received information that a wanted subject was staying at an address in Kingsville on the night of September 11th. Deputies located Aaron Allen Brown, 32, of Bates City in the 1800 block of NW 565, Kingsville. Brown had three active Failure to Appear warrants issued from Lafayette County in 2021 on original charges of Driving While Revoked. Brown was arrested and transported to the Johnson County Jail pending a total bond of $7,500 cash or surety.


 

On the afternoon of September 13th, Deputies responded to the 100 block of SW W Highway in Kingsville to investigate a report of theft. The reporting party, Melvin Simon, who is an employee of a company that provides internet services, stated copper wire was cut from the poles along the side of the road. Photographs were taken and a suspect is being sought for formal charges.


 

Deputies were dispatched to the 1700 block of NW 775 in Bates City on the morning of September 13th to investigate a report of a vehicle theft. The reporting party, Jack Enlow, stated someone attempted to go through one of his vehicles and his gray Chevrolet Equinox had been stolen. The Equinox was stolen from Enlow’s property in the early morning hours of September 11th.


 

Johnson County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an area hospital in reference to an animal bite that occurred in the rural Warrensburg area. The subject advised they had bene bitten by a German Shepherd in the 1000 block of NW 13 Highway.


 

On the evening of September 13th, Deputies were dispatched to the 1100 block of SW 58 Highway in rural Holden to investigate a report of a theft. The reporting party resides out of state, but is the property owner. The reporting party provided Deputies with the renter’s information for each storage unit that had been damage. Deputies will conduct follow ups with the victims at a later date.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop near McPherson and Lincoln in Knob Noster on the night of September 13th. Deputies identified the driver as Megan Ann McGuire, 38. Deputies determined McGuire was impaired, and she participated in a Drug Recognition Expert evaluation. After the DRE evaluation, it was determined the driver was intoxicated by drugs. McGuire was arrested and booked for Driving While Intoxicated (Drugs) and Speeding (11-15 MPH Over).


 

Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 600 block of NW 50 Highway on the night of September 13th. Kristen Arene Campell, 37, of Grandview, was arrested for an outstanding warrant from Henry County on original charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Maintaining Financial Responsibility. Campbell was transported to the Johnson County Jail pending a cash only bond of $500, which was rescinded after her court hearing on September 16th. Campbell was released of her own recognizance on September 20th, with a court date in October.


 

On the night of September 14th, Deputies conducted a traffic stop near Maguire and Sparks in Warrensburg. Deputies identified the driver as Harsh Verma, 28. Deputies determined Verma was impaired. Verma was arrested and booked for Driving While Intoxicated (Drugs) and Failing to Affix Front License Plates.


 

Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of NE 50 HWY in Warrensburg, on a vehicle because it was speeding. Through investigation, the driver was found to be impaired. Stephen Joseph Cushing Jr., 30, of Raytown, was arrested on a charge of Driving While Intoxicated. Cushing was transported to the Johnson County Jail pending formal charges.


 

On the afternoon of September 15th, Deputies conducted a traffic stop at NW 555 Road and NW 131 HWY. Deputies identified the driver as Benjamin Lawson Vanmeter, 22, of Holden. Deputies determined Vanmeter was impaired. Vanmeter provided a breath ample that measured his BAC levels to be at .106%. Vanmeter was arrested and booked in on charges of Driving While Intoxicated and Failure to Maintain the Right Side of the Roadway.


 

Deputies were patrolling in Leeton on the morning of September 15th, when they observed a subject in the parking lot of a gas station located at 404 North Lee Street. Deputies identified the subject as Chad Wayne Dunkin Sr., 53, of Leeton. Dunkin had an active warrant for his arrest on original charges of Property Damage in the 1st Degree and Attempted Stealing. Dunkin was placed under arrest for his warrant, and transported to the Johnson County Jail, pending a $5,000 cash bond.


 

Deputies with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Officer responded to an address in the 500 block of North Main Street in Leeton on the night of September 15th. Robert David Nichol, 28, of Leeton, was arrested for his FTA warrant on original charges of felony Domestic Assault in the 2nd Degree. Nichol was transported to the Johnson County Jail, pending a cash only bond of $15,000.


 

Deputies were dispatched to the 750 block of Highway 131 in Holden, to investigate a report of an abandoned vehicle early on the morning of September 16th. Upon arrival, Deputies observed the vehicle, a white 2004 Chevrolet Cavelier with no license plates, was blocking the roadway due to it being parked in the center of the road. Through their investigation, Deputies were able to locate the owner’s information, and attempted contact at his residence. After receiving no answer at the residence, Deputies returned to the vehicle’s location and had the vehicle towed. The owner of the vehicle later made contact with Deputies and was advised his vehicle had bene towed due to it blocking the roadway.


 

Deputies were dispatched to a rural address in Holden on the afternoon of September 16th. Deputies made contact with the victim of a theft and conducted an investigation.


 

On the morning of September 18th, Deputies were dispatched to an address on SE 240 in rural Warrensburg regarding an aggressive dog. Upon investigation, Deputies took Melanie Louise Lawson, 49, of Warrensburg, into custody for a Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Maintaining Financial Responsibility. Lawson was transported to the Johnson County Jail, pending a cash bond of $150. On September 23rd, Lawson posted bond in full, with her next appearance in court scheduled in October.


 

Deputies observed a black Dodge pickup traveling on 131 Highway on the afternoon of September 18th. Deputies observed their radar was reading the Dodge travelling at 75 MPH on the highway, which was a 55 MPH zone. There were no other vehicles around, so Deputies activated the red and blue lights to conducted a routine traffic stop. The vehicle pulled on to SW 125 Road and pulled to the edge of the road. Deputies made contact with the driver, and advised him why they had been stopped. It was discovered the driver had several Failure to Appear warrant for his arrest from Henry and Cole Counties. Zackery G. Terril, 45, of Pleasant Hill, was arrested for his FTA warrants on original charges of Defective Equipment, two counts of Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Maintaining Financial Responsibility, two counts of Failure to Register a Motor Vehicle, and two counts of Failure to Display License Plates. Terril was transported to the Johnson County Jail, pending a total cash bond of $500, and a cash or surety bond of $2500.


 

On the afternoon of September 18th, Deputies spoke with Jackson Hill at the Johnson County Courthouse. Hill wished to file a report for theft/fraud. Hill stated a car dealership wrote a car title under a different name.


 

Deputies were dispatched to a rural address in Warrensburg regarding a case of property damage. On scene, the victim told Deputies her black Nissan Altima had the back window busted out sometimes that evening. The victim does not have security cameras, but has a potential suspect in mind. Deputies took information to generate a report.


 

Deputies were dispatched to a rural address in Holden for a report of a disturbance that had turned into a structure fire on the afternoon of September 20th. Upon arrival, Johnson County Fire began working on a small grass fire on the west side of the residence. Deborah Starke, 55, of Lee’s Summit, was arrested on a charge of Driving With an Excessive Blood Alcohol Content.


 

On the afternoon of September 21st, Deputies were requested by Concordia Police to do a county line transfer of a subject with three warrants for their arrest, two from Johnson County and one from the City of Warrensburg. The Johnson County warrants were filed on original charges of Stealing and Receiving Stolen Property, while the municipal warrant carried charges of Larceny. Derek Shane Underwood, 42, of Lexington, was taken into custody and transported to the Johnson County Jail, pending a cash only bond of $1500 and a cash or surety bond of $500.


 

Deputies observed a black in color sports bike travelling eastbound on 50 Highway from North Maguire Street. Deputies observed the vehicle travelling at a high rate of speeding, with radar showing him travelling at 135 MPH in a 65 MPH zone. Deputies caught up to the vehicle, and observed it pass the 13 Bypass at a high rate of speed. The vehicle continued eastbound to the 800 block of NE 50 Highway. The driver, Myron Arnell Powell Jr., 27, of Indianapolis Indiana, was arrested on charges of Aggravated Fleeing a Stop or Detention, and six other charges*. The motorcycle was found to have a Missouri registration, which returned on a Honda, not a Kawasaki. The motorcycle in question’s registration returned “not on file”. Powell was booked and released.


 

On the evening of September 17th, Deputies were dispatched to a traffic hazard near 1501 NW 850 Road in Holden. The witness stated a suspect vehicle was swerving all over the road. Deputies contacted the suspect, and identified him as Kermit Dean Williams, 52, of Centerview. Deputies determined Williams was impaired. Williams was arrested and booked in for Driving While Intoxicated (Persistent Offender) and Operating a Motor Vehicle in a Carless and Imprudent Manner.


 

Deputies were dispatched to an address on SW 2 Highway in rural Leeton on the evening of September 17th. Deputies contacted the victim at the residence and conducted a burglary investigation, which is ongoing.


 

Deputies were dispatched to a damage/vandalism report in the 400 block of NW 13 Highway in rural Warrensburg on the morning of September 18th. The store manager, Alisha Peterson, said someone cut of a lock from their circuit box and left the store without power. Someone also tried to forcefully enter a side door to the building. Damages were estimated at $1,954.


 

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office responded to an address in rural Warrensburg on NW 215 on the afternoon of September 24th. Deputies were there in an attempt to contact a subject about an out of state warrant for their arrest. John Christopher Baker, 42, of Warrensburg, was taken into custody on an outstanding Cleburne County Arkansas warrant for Failure to Comply with Registration Requirements**. Baker was transported to the Johnson County Jail, pending a $30,000 cash only bond.


 

On the morning of September 23rd, Deputies were running radar near the 600 block of 50 Highway in Johnson County. Deputies observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed, that was checked at 87 MPH. Deputies conducted a vehicle stop near the 800 block in the westbound lanes of 50 Highway. Deputies learned the driver was intoxicated though a series of Field Sobriety Tests and a preliminary breath test. Lloyd Taylor, 32, of Knob Noster, was arrested and transported to the Johnson County Jail. Taylor was released with citations for Driving While Revoked, Speeding, and Driving While Intoxicated.


 

*There is not currently a listing in Casenet for the name “Myron Arnell Powell” for this incident. The only listings for Powell available are two traffic tickets for Failure to Wear a Seat Belt and Speeding. Both tickets were resolved with a guilty plea.

**Baker’s charges were not listed in Casenet 24JO-CR00983, which is his warrant for being a Fugitive Out of State. In the felony warrant for his arrest, under the same number in Casenet, his bond is set at $30,000 cash only. The felony complaint lists his offense as “failure to comply with registration requirements in violation of the laws of the state of Arkansas for acts committed in the County of Cleburne.” The Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office lists Baker as a Level 3 Registered Sex Offender in the state of Arkansas on charges of Assault in the 3rd Degree and Forcible Sodomy.
