I'll caution you, Gentle Reader, that this story will not give you the warm fuzzies. And it does not have a conclusion. So, if those things bother you, probly best not to read this one.

On April 20th, 2023, Andrew Nicholas Frantz left Sedalia, where he was staying, and drove his White 2019 Ford Escape to Excelsior Springs. That afternoon, he got a ticket around 4:30. His car was parked at a restaurant, and.... that's it. No one has seen or spoken to him again.

So... what happened?

Right now, we don't know much.

If you can't watch the video, I'll give you the gist. He was headed back to Excelsior Springs, and had his travel suitcase in his car. When his car was found parked at the restaurant, his wallet and two important hoodies were missing. Everything else was still there. He wasn't seen or heard from again.

That's the part that gets me. In this world of cameras and surveillance and dash cams.... NOBODY saw anything?

I'm sure that this is where people start speculating. After all, people always want to find out the dirt. I admit, I do, too.

But... there really doesn't seem to be anything here. His record on Casenet is pretty simple stuff. What I mean by that is, there wasn't a large bond warrant looming for this guy. A lot of times if a criminal gets a tip off they're about to get a warrant issued in their name, of course they'll leave town. But there's nothing like that, that I can see. I've seen rumors that drugs might be involved, but...again, from what I can see, there wasn't any direct evidence of that. Just speculation.

The dude's a young father. He talked with his Mom on the daily. I just can't see the guy just running off. And, there's been no activity with cards or cell phone records. Andrew was dressed casually, and not in what I'd call "travelling clothes". You know, when sometimes people will dress for the place they're going? Like, "I don't need coveralls now, but I will when I'm going on the job, so I'll put them on now." He was just in normal clothes (t-shirt, jeans, ball cap), meaning nothing about the outfit indicated he was doing anything but heading home.

So what happened? Why did it take the police in Excelsior Springs three days to find his car? Why was the car destroyed instead of kept in evidence? There was no security footage of the KFC or the Taco Bell or any other businesses in the area?

Unfortunately, we don't know. Almost two years on, and we still don't know. The family says ESPD isn't returning their calls. Have we just collectively given up on Andrew because he's a man and "can defend himself"? Do we just assume he ran away because other young parents have done that? We don't think he could be abducted or hurt? Are we just dismissing facts because of drug rumors?

Something strange is going on here. I don't have the answers, though. If you want to help the family find some, you might reach out to them or contribute to their Go Fund Me.  I hope if you know anything, or have heard anything, you'll reach out to the Sedalia Police (660 826 8100) or the Excelsior Springs Police (816 630 2000).  Oh, and here's the Facebook Page.

Investigatingly yours,
